StonePly Stone Panels - Specialty Textures

StonePly’s Lightweight Stone Panel system combines the beauty of natural granites, marbles, and limestones with a lightweight aluminum honeycomb material to create stunning, unique, and lightweight stone panels for any application.

StonePly has several standard textures including the most popular textures, polished, honed and flamed.  A polished texture is most typical because it gives granites and marbles a shine and it enhances the stone’s natural beauty.  A honed finish is a muted finish that is much like a polish finish but not reflective.  Most limestones have a honed finish.  A flamed finish causes the crystals to sparkle andis mostly applied to granites.

StonePly Stone Panels are not limited to the standard textures.  StonePly can create any texture desired by the client.   In some cases, however, the stone face may need to be thicker to accommodate for the special texture.  We can give the stone face a beaten, rough texture or saw grooves into the face.  Whatever your texture needs are, StonePly can help.  Please see our specialty texture page and our standard texture page.

StonePly Stone Panel Corner Joints

StonePly stone panels offers two different joints that can be used where the outside corners ajoin.

The first and most common joint is a quirk miter joint.  This joint is formed by two stone panels at an outside corner where the meeting edges are mitered and the edges are exposed and finished.  The joint is then filled with backer rod and siliconed.  Silicone color will depend on color of the stone.  This option is the least expensive option because it does not need any pre-fabrication before arriving at the job site.  Lightweight stone panels that feature quirk miter joints are easier to install.

The second type of joint is a finished corner.  This joint is formed at an outside corner and pre-fabricated before arrival at the job site.   After assembled, the edge is available mitered or with a radius   This option is a little more costly because of the time it takes to fabricate the corners.

StonePly Lightweight Marble Stone Panels

Marble has always been one of the most beautiful, elegant, and admired stone throughout history.  It has been used for religious and non-religious monuments and temples since the beginning of time.  It is still used today, surviving millions of years because of its classical beauty.

Marble is a type of marmora.  Marmoras are stone materials that can be polished.  The name comes from the greek word ‘marmarios’, which translates to ’shining stone’.  Marbles are metamorphic rocks that contain mostly calcuium carbonate.  Marble is available in a variety of beautiful colors ranging from white to black.  White marble seems to be the most classic of all the colors and has been around for many years. Most marbles, if cut extremely thin become translucent and can be used as lighted accent panels and bartops.

StonePly takes the beauty of real marble and combines it with a super lightweight aluminum honeycomb backing.  This allows contractors and architects to apply StonePly stone panels in places never before imagined.  StonePly’s marble honeycomb stone panels can be used in a variety of locations that will benefit from lightweight stone panels such as in elevators, curtain walls, and wall cladding.  These marble panels are tested for high wind loads, earthquakes, and flying debri.

StonePly is constructed with a thin layer of natural marble laminated to aluminum honeycomb panels using aviation epoxies.  Every square inch of the stone is bonded to the aluminum backing and when hit by debri it will crack and if damaged bad enough it will only break off in tiny pieces.  This provides extra safety during earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, flying debri, and high winds.  Traditional marble cladding, if struck, will break off in large pieces and is a safety hazard.

StonePly Counter Tops

StonePly counter tops can be used in a variety of areas including on yachts, cruise ships, and airplanes.  These areas usually have weight restrictions and cannot accommodate the weight of thick granite or marble slab tops.  StonePly has revolutionized counter tops for use on yachts, cruise ships, and airplanes by laminating thin real stone to a lightweight aluminum honeycomb or aluminum composite material.  This allows yachts, cruise ships, airplanes, etc., to use granite and marble in their bathrooms, kitchens, and bars.  StonePly counter tops weigh up to 80% less than traditional slabbed counter tops but have the same elegant look.  A variety of bullnoses and shapes are available to accommodate almost any space.

StonePly counter tops are precut, polished, and are ready to install.  They are easy to install and in most cases installs faster than traditional marble or granite countertops which translates into saved time and labor costs.  Also, StonePly panels can be used on yacht, cruise ship, and aircraft interiors as wall panels, floors, bar tops and signage.  Don’t forget, for a nominal fee we also install.  However, if you decide to intall please take a look at our installation guidelines and instructions prior to installation.

Healthcare and StonePly

StonePly lightweight stone panels are great for a number of applications including healthcare.

StonePly stone panels are not only economically cost effecient, they are clean, natural, trendy, and durable.  The natural stone face is easier to clean than traditional painted walls, tile, stainless steal, and concrete.  They are available in a variety of colors and they provide a more comforting atmosphere for patients compared to “sterile white” walls.

StonePly Translucent Stone Panels

StonePly translucent amber alabaster columns make a great addition to hotel and casino lobbies. StonePly stone panels are cut to form a wall column. Using a polycarbonate backing laminated to the alabaster allows the column to be backlit, showing off its beautiful texture and natural pattern. StonePly stone panels have a variety of uses including, but not limited to, elevator panels, counter tops, wall cladding, floors, water walls, fountains, and signage. 

StonePly with honeycomb is noncombustible and is a great option for elevator panels.  With a variety of stone choices, StonePly elevator panels will bring a unique and elegant feeling to any hotel, casino, or business elevator lobby.

StonePly countertops are to be used when the weight of conventional stone countertops are an issue such as on yachts and cruise ships.  StonePly countertops weigh up to 80% less than thick stone countertops.

Since StonePly is light in weight, it is the smart option for wall, floor, and ceiling panel cladding.  StonePly weighs 80% less than other conventional wall cladding methods.  This shortens installation time and costs because the panels can typically be installed without the use of cranes, unlike heavy thick stone panels.

Where can StonePly® be used?

StonePly® is designed for use as cladding on exterior and interior walls, soffits, fascias, cornices, canopies, accent bands, elevator cabs, counter tops, and furniture. StonePly® can be used on most building types including in retail, hotels, office towers, casinos, medical facilities, low rise buildings, high rise buildings, condos, and educational buildings.

StonePly® is a fabricated stone panel system that utilizes a composite panel made by adhering a thin natural stone layer to an aluminum honeycomb, aluminum composite, polycarbonate, or glass substrate with aviation epoxies. The thin stone layer attached to a lightweight substrate allows StonePly® stone panel cladding to be attached almost anywhere on the building including on ceilings and high rise buildings.
